Description
“Charred cedar. Cold air. Smoke caught in wool.” That’s Wild Yonder’s own line, and it’s accurate. Cold Smoke opens on cool hinoki and something mineral, moves into cedarwood and pale smoke, and settles into labdanum, frankincense, and dark woods.
It’s the fragrance for a Wisconsin January: wood stove, wool coat, the walk back from the lake.
It comes in a 10 mL glass bottle. The base is plant-derived squalane, and the scent is a parfum of essential oils and aromatic compounds. Wild Yonder calls the line “functional fragrance”: each one is built around a mood the brand has in mind, which is their pitch, not ours.
How to use it: a little on the pulse points, or on the palms if you’d rather breathe it than wear it. It’s an oil, so it sits close to the skin.
Wild Yonder Studio is a two-person perfumery (Kat and Greg) working out of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Self-taught, small batch, and in the habit of naming things exactly what they smell like.
