The brand has sold Body Trip for more than forty years, originally to expecting mothers (hence Mother’s Special Blend), and now to anyone who wants a plain oil for arms, legs, and the odd tattoo. No fragrance beyond what the cocoa butter brings.

Before you use it: warm the bottle in your hands and shake. Cocoa butter solidifies and settles in cool rooms, which in Wisconsin means roughly October through April. Mountain Ocean’s line is that it’s part of the trip.

Smooth it on after a bath or shower, or mix with Skin Trip lotion.

Mountain Ocean started in the 1970s with Karen and Tom blending lotion in small batches on the California coast. They landed in Boulder, Colorado, opened a shop called Everybody, and the family still runs the brand from there.
