RapidPakRx Medication Package Machine

Meet Keith.

He’s 5 feet tall, 33 inches wide, and he lives in the pharmacy.

He’s our pharmacy robot, and at the moment, he’s busy filling prescriptions.

Why Keith? Well, he’s named for three Keiths. Two of them you’d recognize from a record sleeve. The third one is a pharmacist and sold us the machine.

Keith Witt owned East Troy Pharmacy and this past May, retired and wound down operations at his store, including saying goodbye to his multidose packaging robot. A machine like this usually goes to auction or a broker and ends up in a long-term care pharmacy three states away. But Keith wanted his robot to go to an independent community pharmacy, and he heard through the grapevine that Ryan was opening a new pharmacy, and Keith wanted to help him get started.

So, in honor of Keith Witt, we named the packager after him.

What Keith the Robot Does All Day

He sorts medications into small sealed pouches in a strip, organized by date and time. Every pouch is printed with your name, the day, the hour, and exactly what’s inside, down to the shape, color, and markings of each pill. This service is called multi-dose packaging or pouch packaging, and at Qual-i-tee it’s included at no extra charge with your monthly pickup.

How does it work? We start working on your prescriptions about a week ahead of time. First, we check in with you to see how things are going. Then we call your clinic to request any refills that are needed and order any medications that are needed from our wholesaler. Once all is in order, Keith does the counting. A pharmacist checks his work, every pouch, every month. He is very good at his job. (But he is also never the last set of eyes on your medications; that’s for a human to take care of.) Once he is finished, we let you know. That’s how we turn multiple medications with multiple fill dates into one predictable trip.

Wondering whether pouch packaging would help you, or a parent you’re helping? Just ask!
