Description
The Swedish shopping bag. Hinza’s tote started life in 1957 as Perstorp’s “Shoppingbag 329,” went out of production in the sixties when free grocery bags arrived, and came back in 2006 when a family restarted it under the Hinza name. It’s still made in the same corner of Sweden, in a factory in Hillerstorp, Småland.
This is the Large: about 17 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 10 inches tall (16.5 with the handles), 15 liters, rated to carry 15 kg, which is roughly 33 pounds of groceries. It stands up on its own, rinses clean, and doesn’t care about rain.
Two-thirds of the plastic is bio-based, made from Brazilian sugar cane, and the bag is recyclable like any polyethylene. Hinza notes that surface variations are normal with the plant-based material.
Two colors on the shelf: Dark Green and Olive.
