The lid is a hinge cap with petals (the flexible flaps that let a needle drop in and nothing come back out). Polypropylene, red, with a vertical-entry hinged lid that locks. Fill-line indicator, temporary and permanent closure positions, tamper resistance against hand access, and what BD calls VAT perimeter locks (visual, audible, tactile confirmation that the lid is shut). Universal biohazard symbol on the side. Single use.
